Barbara W. Beck, 93, died April 11, 2021 at Piedmont Crossing Retirement Community in Thomasville, NC. She was born on November 14, 1927, in Lexington, NC, the third daughter of Harold Bagby and Connie Kirkman Willis. She was a graduate of Asheboro High School. She attended Catawba College and graduated from High Point (College) University with a BA in Education and Home Economics. After graduation she taught in the Lexington City School System at Robbins Elementary School, Davis Townsend and Pickett Elementary School until retiring in 1982. Barbara was married to Belvin (Teet) B. Beck, Jr. until his passing in 1994. She is survived by her 2 sons; Belvin (Burk) B. Beck, III and his partner Kenneth Meyer of Orlando, FL; and Daniel W. Beck and his wife Trudy S. Beck of Lexington, along with their 2 sons; Daniel Sterling Beck of Lexington and Benjamin Cooper Beck and his wife Chelsea Seal Beck of Gastonia, NC and their 2 children, Benjamin Brooks Beck and Evelyn Marie Beck. She is predeceased by her parents and her sisters Connie Willis Steed, of Raleigh, NC; and Joann Willis Wood, of Danville, KY; and brothers Thomas Willis of Mobile, AL; Harold (Bud) Willis, of Gainesville, GA; and William Willis. Barbara loved teaching and was a member of the NC Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, attending plays and eating out with her fellow teachers. She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington, NC. The service will be streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 419 S Main St., Lexington, NC 27292 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
