Barbara Glenn Boone, also known to many as "Polly," passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Davidson County at the age of 92.
A lifelong resident of Davidson County, Barbara was born on December 2, 1933, to the late Fred Herman Glenn Sr. and Evie Olithia Taylor Glenn. She spent her life rooted in the community she loved, building friendships and a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Barbara found her greatest joy in her family. She treasured every family vacation, road trip, and gathering, believing that life's greatest blessings were found in time spent together. She appreciated the simple treasures in life; her friends, the peace and comfort of home, her community, and, above all else, her family. Her love was steadfast, generous, and evident to all who knew her.
When her health was permitted, Barbara faithfully attended Tyro Methodist Church, where her devoted faith remained as an important foundation in her life. She was a sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the UNC Tar Heels. Some of her fondest memories were watching and supporting her beloved daughter, Sheila, as she played volleyball, basketball, and softball throughout her school years. Barbara also had a deep love for animals and, in her younger years, enjoyed camping with her family and occasionally riding horses during those trips.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Alva Boone; her brothers, Otis Glenn, Fred "Duddie" Glenn Jr., and Wade "Pete" Glenn; and her sisters, Evelyn Morgan, Mildred Caudill, Jackie McMillian, and Carrie "Pat" Frank.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted daughter, Sheila Boone; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, July 24, 2026, starting at 1pm, an hour prior to the funeral service, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. A funeral service to honor Barbara's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with burial following at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tyro Methodist Church at 4484 S North Carolina Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295, or to the Davidson County Humane Society, 1120 Piedmont Drive, Lexington, NC 27295.
The Boone family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Barbara's primary caregivers at Davidson Health & Rehab, especially the compassionate staff of Lillians Way, for their kindness and care shown to Barbara throughout her time there. The Boone family would also like to give a special thanks to the family members and friends that visited and checked on Barbara regularly.
