Barbara Hill Hanes

Barbara Jean Hill Hanes, 76, of Yountz Road, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Centerclair Nursing Center. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Second Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Rev. Dr. William B. Shrout Jr. and Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son. Mrs. Hanes was born on April 14, 1935, in Davidson County to Albert Irvin Hill and Ruby Ribelin Hill. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Dwight Hanes, who died on Oct. 13, 1996, and a sister, Brenda Copley. Surviving are son, Alton D. Hanes II of Lexington; daughter, Terrie Sink and husband Roy of Reeds; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Colton Sink and Carley Hanes; and sisters, Betty Lou Parish and husband Kermit of Winston-Salem and Peggy Allen and Ruby Foster, both of Lexington.
