Barbara Holmes

Barbara Holmes, a beloved resident of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on a warm summer day, Tuesday, July 22, 1947 to Finch Leonard and Mary Troutman Leonard in Davidson County NC, Barbara was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and strength.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Holmes, and her son, Michael Morris and her sister, Cheryl Gullett. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Bradley Morris and Allan Lipford (Danielle); her daughters, Traci Hennessee (Stacy) and Beverly Phillips (Junior); and her sister, Michele Leonard and special brother-in-law, Bryce Gullett. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ryan Hennessee, Andrea Weaver, Josh Weaver, Cody Morris, Kayla Phillips, Kacey Phillips, Olivia Hennessee, Chase Wilkerson, Eddie Lipford, Andy Lipford, Marianna Lipford, Mason Lipford, Kynleigh Phillips, and Milo Lipford, who will all carry forward the warmth and love she bestowed upon them.

Barbara found immense joy and peace in the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Her passion for these cherished landscapes reflected the tranquility she found in nature. She was also a dedicated supporter of causes she held dear, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in her memory.

Family and friends will gather to honor Barbara’s life at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lexington City Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her loved ones. A visitation will take place on Sunday, January 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, providing an opportunity for those who knew her to share in remembrance and love.
