Barbara Koonts

Barbara Knight Koonts, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 71.

Barbara was born on November 18, 1953, in Marion, Indiana, to the late John Morrison and Joy Pattison Knight. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who brought joy and kindness to all who knew her.

Barbara found great happiness in traveling with her beloved husband, Stan, whether it was visiting family across the United States or spending time at the North Carolina coast, where they enjoyed exploring local restaurants together. She was eagerly anticipating attending Stan’s 50th Wake Forest Class Reunion this October to reconnect with their cherished friends.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Dale Knight, and a grandchild, Alexandria Rose Koonts.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Stan Koonts; son, William Steve Allen; daughters, Kendra Strickland (Tony), Kelli Byrd (Andrew), Angel Koonts, and Ashley Koonts; brother, John Knight; six grandchildren, Case, Josh (Megan), Dakotah, Sierra, Sydney, and Scott; one precious great-grandchild, Thomas; and her loyal fur companion, Annie Mae Oakley.

The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, 858 Hickory Tree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, with Pastor Jim Newsom officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
