Barbara Carter Neill, 86, of Lexington, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 2, 2026.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior at First Baptist Church of Welcome, with Pastor Mark Blair officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Barbara, more commonly known as “Mamaw” or “Momma”, was born on October 28, 1939 in Davie County to the late Carl “Jack” Carter and Velma Wagner Carter. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Allen, in November of 1959, the two made their home in Welcome, NC where she became a dedicated teacher assistant within the Davidson County School System. Her life was built on helping, taking care of, and serving others – especially her family and friends.
In her second career, Barbara became a jeweler. She never met a stranger and loved making people smile and laugh; her favorite season was Christmas – the lights, the magic, and celebrating the birth of her Lord and Savior brought her so much joy that she left Christmas up in her showroom year-round!
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Allen of 66 years; daughter, Donna Neill Reynolds; son, Jeffrey Allen Neill (Traci); grandchildren Jared Robbins (Courtney), Bradley Reynolds (Jordan), Lauren Robbins, Sebastian Warth (Samantha), John Reynolds (Maria), Tanna Robbins, Neill Reynolds (Molly), Nicole Avery ( Ferraud)(d), Payton Neill, and Makenzi Neill; and great-grandchildren, Lindley Robbins, Winnie Reynolds, Talon Robbins, Adalay Warth, Alaina Avery, Aubree Moore-Robbins, Luna Warth, Everly Robbins, Jordan Byland, Kai Avery, David Reynolds, Arden Warth, Benjamin Reynolds, and Sylvia Reynolds; also left to remember her legacy are many cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Frank and Duane Carter, and son-in-law, David Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers foundation in her honor via dogood.t2t.org.
