Barney Barnhill

Warren “Barney” Lynwood Barnhill, age 82, of Old Highway 52, Lexington died Saturday morning in Alston Brook Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Second United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Warren was born in Brunswick County, NC on June 7, 1925 to Wilbur Edgar Barnhill and Bessie Lillian Benton Barnhill. He was a retired employee of Proctor & Schwartz and a member of Second United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Muriel Sealy Barnhill in 1970 and 2nd wife Dorothy “Dot” Bumgarner Barnhill in 2004, a son Bryce Ray Barnhill in 1983. Surviving are: Sons, Billy Barnhill and wife Louise, and Eugene “Tiny” Barnhill all of Lexington and Bobby Barnhill of Panama City, Florida, 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington, from 6 until 8 pm Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second United Church of Christ, 330 N.
