Barney James Bowman, 54, of Lexington born February 13, 1956 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010, at Clearview Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Pastor Jeff Purdue officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jean’s sister on East Holly Grove Road.
Mr. Bowman was born in Randolph County, to Clarence Willard Bowman Sr. and Betty Carol Morris Bowman. He was a Deacon at his church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two infant children.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Peggy Jean Burkhart Bowman of the home; beloved dog, Precious; brothers, Williard Bowman and wife, Cheryl, of Tampa, Fla., Allen Bowman and wife, Cindy and Sammy Bowman and wife, Shannon, all of Lexington; sisters, Carolyn Brainard, Nancy Anderson and husband, Bill, and Annette Bailey and husband, Frank, all of Lexington; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank a special cousin, Pat Medlin and Hospice for their wonderful care during Barney’s illness.
