Barry Wood Kearns

Barry Wood Kearns, 69, of Kearns Drive in Welcome passed away on Tuesday, October 2 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A graveside service with military honors by the Davidson County Honor Guard will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 6 at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington with Rev. T. W. Bailey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, October 5 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

Barry was born on October 17, 1948 in Davidson County to Earnest Bowers Kearns and Mary Katherine Everhart Kearns.  He was retired from RJR as a lead mechanic.  Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War and supported 1/77 ^th Armor Scout Platoon Reunions.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Loraine Wilson.

Surviving is Marjorie Kearns Essick, of the home; son, Durand Kearns; daughter, Swanna Kearns; brothers; Dean Kearns, Garry Kearns, Larry Kearns, Terry Kearns, Perry Joe Kearns, Joel Kearns; 1 granddaughter, Carly Wrenn and 1 great-granddaughter, Carsyn Norng.
