Baxter Lee Coppley

Baxter Lee Coppley, age 90, of Briggs Road, Lexington departed this life on Tuesday night (December 13, 2011) at the W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday (December 19, 2011) at the Salisbury National Cemetery with Chaplain Reuben Washington officiating. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from Noon until 1:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Baxter was born in Davidson County, June 15, 1921 to Walser Coppley and Ada Young Coppley. He was a self employed mechanic. He served his country in the US Army during World War II, and received the Good Conduct Medal and The Purple Heart; was a member of the American Legion Post 8 and DAV Chapter 39. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving; there are several cousins on both his mother and fathers side; and two special cousins Barbara Queen Floyd and O.
