Beatrice “Pete” Vanderford Cassidy, 91, of Laurel Ave. died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Hinkle Hospice House after declining health of six months.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Frankie Matthews and Sandy Young. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cassidy was born March 14, 1921 in Iredell County to Clifford Allen and Rosie Morrow Vanderford. She retired from The JF Ward Company, and was also employed by Erlanger Mills. She was a Past President of The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3074 and attended Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rhoten “Sarge” Richard Cassidy on Feb. 24, 2012 and her sisters, Katherine Floyd, Elizabeth Jenkins, and Hazel Leonard.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Cassidy and wife, Marsha, of Lexington; her sister, Helen Vanderford Young of Lexington; her grandchildren, Richard Cassidy and Wendy Bean and husband, Tim; and her great grandchildren, Brooke Cassidy, Alex Cassidy, Caleb Burris, and Tristan Bean.
