Becky Whitlow Ashmore

Becky Lou Whitlow Ashmore, 74, of Ridge Road, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.   The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church following the service and other times at the home.   Mrs. Ashmore was born November 11, 1936, in Davidson County to Everette Lee Whitlow and Willie Bernice Yokley Whitlow. She was Circle Chairman of the Circle of Joy, a member of the administrative board, PPR committee, United Methodist Women, and the Friendship Sunday school class at her church. Mrs. Ashmore was a graduate of North Davidson High School and Women’s College of Greensboro, now known as University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She served as secretary at James Ashmore Accounting in Jamestown, and was a former employee of the City of Winston Salem; and a member of the High Point Art Guild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Gay Whitlow Harold.   Surviving is her husband, James R. Ashmore of the home; son, J. Randall Ashmore and girlfriend, Tammy Lemly, of Lexington; daughter, Wendy Ashmore Phelps of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jessica Ashmore, Cody Ashmore, Dylan Lemly and Lauren Lemly; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Ava; sister, Martha Whitlow Bellis and husband, Edward; brother-in-law, Ivan Harold of Lexington; niece Laura Bellis; and nephew Eddie Bellis and wife, Kathleen.   Memorials may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
