Becky Nifong Lassiter, 72, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Midway United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry Lemons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, October 24th at Midway United Methodist Church Christian Fellowship Center Building.
Becky was born in Forsyth County on May 30, 1943 to Percy Lee and Cora Lawson Nifong. She graduated from North Davidson High School, Appalachian State University and UNCG. She retired from the Davidson County School system after 30 years of teaching. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, served as church historian and cemetery chair. She was an active member of the Genealogical Society of Davidson and Forsyth Counties and volunteered in the Genealogy Room at the Davidson County Library. She loved working on many mission team trips to help others in Alaska, Kentucky, and across the Southeast.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wallace Ray Lassiter (2004) and brother-in-law, James Ladd and Jesse A. Lassiter. Surviving is a son Duane Lassiter (Sharon) of Winston-Salem; a brother, Billy Nifong (Donna) of Winston-Salem, sister, Rosa Lee Ladd of Lexington nephew Ronnie Nifong, niece Leigh Ann Holt (Brian), “brother-in-law” Gurney Braswell (Becky) and his extended family.
