Becky Tysinger

Rebecca Greer "Poocus" Tysinger, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an illness of five weeks. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Allan Van Meter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Tysinger was born in Davidson County on March 22, 1927, to William Zeb Greer and Bessie Tussey Greer. She was retired from the Davidson County school system and a former employee of Davidson Farmers Co-Op. She graduated from Linwood High School and was valedictorian of her graduating class and attended Catawba College. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clifford Greer and Zeno Greer, and sister, Mabel Harvey. Surviving are two sons, Blaine Tysinger and his wife, Amy, and Gregg Tysinger and his wife, Charlotte and daughter Karen Tysinger Fritts and her husband, John, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Kent Tysinger, Chris Fritts, Shannon Fritts, Lyndee Koonts and her husband, Keith, Ryan Williams and her husband, Brad, Morgan Tysinger and Matt Tysinger; five great-grandchildren, Gracie Koonts, Sydnie Koonts, Ty Fritts, Kathryn Williams and Jacob Williams; and a sister, Bessie Greer of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Bethany UMC and at the home on Allred Road from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Bethany UMC Building Fund or to Bethany UMC Children's Ministries, 169 Bethany Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
