Ben Hollis Lomax

February 15, 1919 — May 2, 2015

Ben Hollis Lomax, 96, went to his heavenly home and to reunite with his love of 68 years on May 2, 2015, with family by his side. A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, May 6 at Churchland Baptist Church by the Revs. Jerry Wilkes and Ray Nance Howell IV. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Ben was a World War II veteran, a member of Masonic Lodge #473 in Lexington and a member of Churchland Baptist Church. He loved life, fishing, people, traveling, dancing and entertaining with his harmonica. In his later life, he enjoyed mowing his lawn and riding his golf cart with his beloved dog, Toots. Ben is preceded in death by the love of his life, Gertrude Davis Lomax. He is survived by two sons, Gary Lomax and wife Jody, and Ricky Lomax, both of Lexington; his brother, Ray Lomax of Virginia; his sisters, Pauline Young and Joy Koontz, both of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Todd Lomax and wife Melissa, of King, Scott Lomax of Winston Salem, Alan Lomax and wife Mandy, and Shannon Yarbrough and husband, Josh, both of Lexington; six great- grandchildren, and his special caregiver, Carol Long. The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the third floor nursing staff at Rowan Regional Medical Center, especially Carmen and Donna for their gentle, loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Churchland Baptist Church, 7516 NC Hwy 150, Lexington NC 27295
