Benjamin Gibbs

Mr. Benjamin Gibbs, age 82 of Arrington Drive, Lexington died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Lexington Health Care after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 8 at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gibbs was born March 13, 1926 in Montgomery County, to Benjamin Gibbs Sr., and Sarah Coldwell Gibbs. He retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Jeffrey Tetter. Surviving are his wife Alice Marie Gibbs of the home; his daughter, Patricia Tetter of Lexington; his brother; Lonnie Gibbs and wife, Judy, of Lexington; his sisters, Julia Moorefield and Tryphenia Gibbs, both of Lexington; his grandchildren; David Tetter and wife, Athena, of Wilmington, and Pamela Tetter of Charlotte; and his great-granddaughter, Allyson Tetter. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home.
