Bennie Richard Dennis, Sr.

August 23, 1930 — March 5, 2024

Bennie Richard Dennis Sr., 93, of Linwood, passed away March 5, 2024, at his home in Linwood.

A private celebration of his life was held Saturday March 16, 2024, at Forest Hill Mausoleum. With Pastor Renee Easter and Pastor Terry Smith officiating the service.

Mr. Dennis was born August 23, 1930, in Rowan County, to Arthur Lee Dennis Sr. and Ada Mae Walser Dennis. Bennie attended Smith Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in the Korean War. He retired as a mechanic after 30 years from Stroh’s Brewery Company. Bennie loved to go fishing, play golf, dance and smoke his BBQ pork butts; Bennie was most proud that he became a certified Welder. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Salisbury, Moose Lodge in Spencer and the Amvets in Lexington.  His passion was his faith, church, family and especially his grandchildren. Bennie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Koontz Dennis who died November 6, 2019, and his son, Bennie (B.J.) Dennis who died June 20, 2023, brother, Arthur Lee Dennis Jr., sister, Dolores Dennis Kinley.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Kathy Dennis Blanchard and husband Chris of Dalzell, SC; daughter-in-law, Rose Dennis of Lexington; grandchildren, Gavin Blanchard (Becky), Noah Blanchard, and Korie Dennis, also surviving are one great grandson, Maverick Blanchard.

In lieu of flowers and food the family has requested that memories be directed to, Victory Junction 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
