Benny Caroll Hanes, 69, of West Center Street Extension, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at his home after a one-year illness.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Currytown Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Greer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hanes was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Davidson County to H. Oake Hanes and Eulalia Curry Hanes. He was a retired machine operator at Strohs. He was married to Ruth G. Hanes, who preceded him in death in June 1977.
Surviving are three sons, Tony Hanes and Damon Hanes, both of Lexington, and Eddie Hanes and his wife, Linda, of Mt. Ulla; a daughter, Tina Curry and her husband, Dallas, of Lexington; two grandchildren, Scott Hanes and Tyler Curry; a sister, Sonya Queen of Lexington; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at First Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall.
