Benny Arnold McAlpine age 68, of Lexington, passed away Thursday February 14, 2013 at his residence after a sudden illness.
A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, at Faith Missionary Alliance Church, where he was a charter member, conducted by Rev. Michael Gates. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday at the church prior to the service.
Benny was born in Forsyth County, on July 14, 1944 to James Henry McAlpine and Alice Ruth Lee McAlpine. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School and attended Appalachian State University. He was a former aide to Congressman Earl Ruth and retired from the Planning and Zoning Department of Davidson County. Benny was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Ruth Mizell.
Benny is survived by his brother, James Harold McAlpine and wife Nancy, and sister, Jo Anna Tally and husband Rick both of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by six nephews, several great nieces and nephews and his extended special family at the Davidson County Governmental Center.
