Bernard “Barney” Chapman Sr., 73, of Hasty School Road in Thomasville passed away Sunday March 10, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 15, 2024 at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Rev. Phillip Biggs officiating service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
Mr. Chapman was born April 25, 1950, in Tazewell County Virginia to Henry James Chapman and Carlie Lydia Boyd Chapman. Barney loved spending time with his family and he worked hard his entire life. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He attended faithfully at church and he was always helping others and putting them first. Barney loved unconditionally and really cared about people. He was a perfectionist and took pride in his work. Barney loved doing things on his truck, working in his yard and working with wood, and he also liked fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving is his wife Mary Eagle Chapman, of the home; son, Bernie Chapman (Dawn); daughter, Tammy Nichols (Chris); step-sons, Jonathan Iselin (Sandra), and Jathaniel (JJ) Iselin (Lynn); adopted son, Mark Harrison (Bessie); adopted daughter, Lindsay Farthing (Grey); three brothers, Bobby Joe Chapman (Margaret), Roger Chapman (Laura) and Lewis Chapman; 10 grandchildren, Wesley Chapman (Adrianna), Jaylan Chapman, Dakota Joyce, Zachary Joyce, Reilly Nichols, Makenna Iselin, Paiten Iselin, Elijah Farthing, Benjamin Farthing and Holly Farthing; and 2 great-grandchildren, Addilyn Chapman and Weston Chapman.
