Bertha Gray Ward, 68, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at her home.

In order to comply with directives from Governor Cooper’s office, a private graveside service will be held in the Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the home of the Angela and Chris Rhymer.

Mrs. Ward was born in Manilla, Philippines on May 28, 1951 to Robie Craven Gray, Sr. and Victoria Cortez Gray. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Gray; and two sisters, Mary Ann Gray and Nellie Annie Gray.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 50 years, Marvin “Cecil” Ward of the home; her three daughters, Angela Rhymer (Chris) of Lexington, Wendy Bailey (Stephen Marrs) of Tyro, and Cindy Myers (Barry) of Thomasville; one brother, Robie Craven Gray, Jr. of Virginia; one sister, Elsie Wright (Johnny) of Asheboro; six grandchildren, Jason Snyder, Chase Rhymer, Ceciley Bailey, Miranda Bailey, Summer Chilton, and Bret Myers; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
