Bertie Sexton

December 10, 1922 — February 25, 2019

Mrs. Bertie Daisy Everhart Sexton, 96, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, February 25, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, February 28 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Steven Manley.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Thursday prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Sexton was born December 10, 1922 in Davidson County to Marvin Oscar Everhart and Daisy Frances  Yarbrough Everhart.  She was a loving and generous mother who enjoyed laughter, gardening and traveling to all 50 states and many countries.  She always brought joy to others and constantly shared her smile and beautiful heart with everyone who crossed her path.  She was a founding member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church. She later attended Free Pilgrim Church in Thomasville, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School class.  Her husband, Maurice C. Sexton, Sr., her son, Maurice C. Sexton, Jr., her sister, Mary Johnson, and her brothers, Ray Everhart, Lloyd Everhart, and Kelin Everhart, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Sexton and wife, Christina Dupuch of Asheville; her grandchildren: Roger Carter IV, Erin Sexton and Sean Sexton; her adopted daughter, Teresa Sechriest; and her adopted grandchildren, Justin Sechreist and wife, Elizabeth, and Preston Sechreist and wife, Lynette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Heart Based Institute, 231 Sages Way, Marshall NC 28753.

Friends and family are invited for a time of fellowship following the graveside service at Unity Place at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.
