It is with Deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bessie Delores Gregg who peacefully departed this world on July 9, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on Wednesday August 11, 1948 in Mingo County WV, Bessie was a cherished resident of Lexington NC, where she spent much of her life surrounded by family and friends.

Bessie was predeceased by her beloved daughter Marsha Spencer, Brother Walter Ferrell. Parents Henry Wright and Ruth Stewart. She is lovingly remembered by her son, James Smith (Debra) Daughters, Lisa Prevost (Perry Owens), Breann Dunn (Seth Alan). She also leaves behind her siblings: Brother Bobby Ferrell, Sisters Linda Earles, Drema Auman and Mildred Endicott and her cherished 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Through her life Bessie was a dedicated RN, BSN Nurse for the CMC Northeast and Atrium Health. Her commitment and work ethic were highly regarded by her colleagues and community.

She was the first female EMT and the first female ambulance driver for Davidson county. A woman of faith, Bessie found immense joy in her love for Nursing, Family and Friends but mainly her church services. Bessie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered.

The Family would like to Thank SECU Hospice Home of Yadkinville, Brookstone Terrace of Thomasville and Grayson Creek of Lexington NC for all the care and love Bessie received from them.

Arrangements for Bessie Gregg have been entrusted to Davidson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held 11:00 AM, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Burial will follow the service at Lexington City Cemetery.

Family, friends and all those whose lives were touched by Bessie are invited to celebrate her life and commemorate her legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice - SECU Hospice Home of Yadkinville.
