Bessie Ann Johnston, 77, of State Park Road, Troutman, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crestview Baptist Church in Statesville with the Rev. Roy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Fern Hill Baptist Church in Troutman. She was born in Alexander County to the late Spainhour and Lillian Annie Putman Eller. Mrs. Johnston was a retired CNA at Hill Haven Nursing Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Johnston; a son, Stanley Franklin Johnston; a daughter, Elaine Marcella; four brothers, Bill Eller, Calvin Eller, Herman Eller and Dodd "Shorty" Eller; and a sister, Della Honeycutt. Surviving are two sons, Curtis Johnston of Kansas, and Micah Avery Johnston of Troutman; two daughters, Lillian Jenkins and husband, Jerry, of Clemmons, and Janet L. Roy and husband, Raymond, of Athol, Massachusetts ; two brothers, Marshall Eller of Statesville, and Spainhour "Bo" Eller of Taylorsville; a best friend, Kay Roy of Athol; eight grandchildren, Amy Bannister, Josh Jenkins, Jessica Jenkins, Sonya Davis, Eric Roy, Kristi Zeller, Buck Johnston and Rebecca Johnston; and nine great-grandchildren, Dannielle Roy, Olivia Bannister, Morgan Johnston, Courtney Johnston, Danny Johnston, Dillon Johnston, Kameron Johnston, Leanna Zeller and Will Zeller. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 285, Lexington, NC 27293-0285; and Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
