Bessie Lanier

Bessie Victoria Michael Lanier, 92, of Becky Hill Road, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at her home. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Judy, 208 Sherman Drive, Lexington. Mrs. Lanier was born October 13, 1923, in Davidson County, to Jake Michael and Sally Byerly Michael. She was an inspector for Salem Manufacturing and also had worked in the staining department at Indiana Molding prior to her retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ramson Lanier and a great granddaughter, Gracie Mercer. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Paul Lanier and sisters, Annie Pickett and Kathleen Berrier. Surviving are sons, Dennis Lanier and wife Rita and Mike Lanier and wife Terri, all of Lexington; daughters, Judy Lawson and Barbara Lanier, both of Lexington; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
