Betsy Mathis of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on December 10, 1962, Betsy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a deep faith that touched everyone she knew.

Born and raised in Lexington, Betsy spent her formative years in a large and loving family. She attended school in Lexington before beginning her journey through life. She was a hard-working woman who enjoyed her career, holding various positions throughout her life. She made many friends during those years and always approached her work with a positive attitude even when she was tired. Her last place of employment was with Diebold; she had worked there for seven years.

Betsy was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She found joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she played a significant role in raising. She was a devoted Christian woman and found solace and community at Trinity Baptist Church in Mocksville. She was always eager to share her love of Jesus with everyone she met.

Her interests were varied and reflected her vibrant personality. She cherished the opportunity to go to the beach and the mountains, always relishing the beauty of nature. She loved to fish anywhere she could. Betsy found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Betsy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her commitment to her family. She loved all holidays and treasured the time spent with loved ones. Family meals were a cherished tradition, filled with laughter, conversation, and the warmth of togetherness. Her life motto was simple, yet profound: "Enjoy life and love one another."

Betsy is preceded in death by her father, Thurman Ray Johnson, Sr.; husband, Arnold Odell Mathis, Sr.; stepson Arnold Odell Mathis, Jr.; brother, Thurman Johnson Jr.; sister, Shela Gail Johnson and nephew, Cody Gordan.

Betsy is survived by her daughter, Ashley and husband, Raymond; son, Joe Johnson; granddaughter, Kimberly Scott; stepsons, Gregory Mathis and Brian Long; stepdaughter, Carrie Long; sisters, Lisa Jones and Karen Flores and husband Mark; niece, Jackie Johnson; nephew Tim Gordan and several great nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park on the same day.
