Bette Leier Monroe, 91, formerly of DeQueen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Alston Brook of Lexington.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 4 at the Lexington City Cemetery by the Fr. Albert Gondek.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Ms. Monroe was born July 15, 1921 in Benson County, North Dakota to I. J. “Ned” Leier and Catherine Marthe Leier. She spent most of her life in DeQueen, Arkansas, where she was a Nurse at DeQueen Hospital for many years. Her son, Augustus Duggar “Gus” Monroe III, preceded her in death, as well as seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Long and husband, B.A. of Lexington, and Vicky Ozment and husband, John, of Fayetteville, AR; her brother, Jack Leier of Altamonte Springs, FL; her sisters, Helen Scharosch of Sacramento, SC, Amelia Bachmeier of Harvey, ND, Mildred Magnuson of Little Canada, MN, and Arlene Johnson of Harwood, ND; her grandchildren, Laurie Long Briggs and husband, Dan, of Lexington, Adam Ozment of Ft. Smith, AR, Catherine Ozment of Bloomington, IN; and Suzanne Ozment of Washington, D.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Ana Ozment, Sidney Leier Briggs, Lyndon Briggs, Hadley Briggs, and Jack D. Briggs II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
