Bette Ragan Moore, 91, formerly of Woodlawn Drive, died Tuesday, September 3 at Alston Brook of Lexington after declining health.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Revs. Dr. Ray Howell 3rd and Tommy Wilson.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Moore was born March 23, 1922 in Coleman, GA to Willie and Lillian Ragan. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart, her husband, Jim Moore, who died in 1977. Her daughters, Marie and Jackie; sisters, Faye, Ethel, Nettie, Helen, Bernice and brothers, Jack, Bradley, and Carl, preceded her in death.
Bette was a graduate of Andrew Business College. She was active in her community where she served as the first president of the Pickett Elementary School PTA and as president of the Lexington Civinette Club. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. There she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and visited the homebound members. She was president of the Ruth Class and enjoyed singing in the Senior Adult Choir.
She loved reading, traveling and playing the piano. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a true Southern Belle. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her, especially her Breakfast Club and her Golden Girl buddies.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
