Betty Barney

February 28, 1931 — February 29, 2020

Betty Jane Leonard Barney, 89, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington with the Rev. Dave Kelley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.


Mrs. Barney was born on February 28, 1931 in Davidson County to Leavy N. Leonard, Sr. and Ella Mae Leonard Leonard. She was a retired furniture worker and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Mrs. Barney was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Andrew Leonard and Leavy N. Leonard, Jr.; two sisters, Irene Barker and Trulie Berrier; and a great-grandchild, Uriah Stewart.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, George Frank Barney; her daughter, Rita Greene (Johnny) of Linwood; her son, George Dean Barney (Donna) of Lexington; three grandchildren, Amy Stewart (Todd), Andrew Barney (Valerie), and Anna Barney; and four great-grandchildren, Jett Stewart, Grayson Stewart, Colton Barney, and Elyse Barney.

Memorials may be directed to Shiloh United Methodist Church at 943 NC-150, Lexington, NC 27295.
