Betty Everhart Essick, 80 of Lincoln St., Welcome, died Saturday October 15, 2011 at 8:35 AM in Hinkle Hospice House after six weeks of declining health.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday October 19, 2011 at Bethesda United Methodist Church Family Life Center where she was a member with Revs. Dennis Marshall, Darrin Everhart and Josh Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home of her granddaughter Kelli Tesh on Lincoln St.
Mrs. Essick was born in Davidson County on April 3, 1931 to Lacy Council “Jack” Everhart and Thelma Moore Everhart. She was retired from Binning’s Building Products as Accounting Manager after 40 years of service. She was a member of North Davidson Gideon’s Ladies Auxiliary and Welcome Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. At Bethesda United Methodist Church she served as past Treasurer and past United Methodist Women’s President and a member of the Circle of Joy. She was preceded in death by her husband Rueben Alvin Essick.
Surviving are her daughter Ginger Essick Grubb and husband, Brian, of Welcome; grandchildren Kelli Tesh and husband, Steven, Kerri Barker and husband, Eric; great grandchildren Corbin Tesh, Charlotte Tesh, Heidi Barker and Rileigh Barker; brother John Raymond Everhart and wife, Ramona, of Winston Salem; sisters Virginia Hill and husband, “Bunny”, Doris Coppley and husband, Bob, and Lacy Carol Belcher; sisters-in-law Freda Shoaf and husband, Glen, and Evelyn Essick; and brother-in-law Bill Essick and wife, Frances all of Lexington and a host of nieces and nephews.
