Betty Brown Hanes, age 75, of Walser Road, Lexington passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Brookstone Rest Home and Retirement Center. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Christ Reformed Church, where she was a member with Dr. Charles Yarbrough officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 pm Tuesday prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Betty was born in Guilford County, January 7, 1937. She was adopted and reared by Fred and Betty Brown. She was a member and pianist at Christ Reformed Church and a former employee of National Wholesale, Country Travelers and Industrial Federal Bank. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Hanes in 1996; son, Mike Hanes in 1991; and her brother, Jack Lee Summey.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Mona Nims of Wake Forest; son, Tim Hanes of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Amanda Cerny and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Zoe Pippin and Malachi Cerny; sisters, Peggy Cole of Winston Salem and Patti Lowe of High Point; brothers, Fred Brown, Jr. of Greensboro and Delbert Summey of Panama City, FL.
