Betty Rose Hedrick Harvey, age 84 of Brookstone Retirement Center formerly of Wood Island Road, Lexington passed away Thursday evening at Brookstone following an extended illness and serious illness of one week.
Funeral service will held 11:00 AM Monday at Second Reformed United Church of Christ where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. William B. Shrout, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday night.
Betty was born in Davidson County, December 16, 1928, to William Henry Hedrick and Ida Bell Swing Hedrick. She was a graduate of Davis Townsend School. She was retired owner/operator of Jimmy’s Barbecue. Mrs. Harvey loved fishing from the pier at her home on High Rock Lake and from the pier at Cherry Grove Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Palmer, June Lambeth, Clara Faye Palmer and Lucille Garner; brothers, William Hedrick and J.W. Hedrick; and husband, Hayes Henry “Jimmy” Harvey, November 5, 2004.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Kirksey Harvey Harris and husband John and Karin Harvey Hughes and husband Keith all of Lexington; two sons, Kemp Daniel Harvey, Sr. and wife Barbara of Thomasville; Terry Keith Harvey and wife Margaret of Lexington; grandchildren, Samuel Thomas and wife Jennifer, Kemp Harvey, Jr. and wife Sharla, Michael Harvey and wife Jessica, Amy Barker and husband Luke, Jennifer Pacini and husband, Mauricio, Holly Harris and husband Michael, Nick Harvey and wife, Aimee, Katie Myers and husband, Steven; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Swing of Lexington; brother, Lowell Hedrick and wife Rachel of Lexington.
