Betty Leonard Weaver

Betty Sue Leonard Weaver, 88, of Reedy Creek School Drive, Lexington, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Betty was born October 30, 1937 in Davie County to Marvin and Viola Sparks Leonard. Her family then moved to Tyro, NC where she graduated from Reeds High School on May 26, 1956. That same day she married the love of her life, the late Bobby F. Weaver, and they spent 59 years of life, love and service to their community and church in Reedy Creek. Betty worked at Salem Knitting but ended her career working at Ellis Jewelers, along with Bobby, for over 30 years before retiring. Betty was a dedicated and faithful servant to her church where she was a member of the Friendship Class and the Unity Circle. She served many years in the cooler ministry, Meals on Wheels program and the backpack ministry. Betty was known throughout the community for her love of canning, cooking and then visiting and delivering food to shut-ins and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Elizabeth Weaver, a brother, Thomas Cleveland Leonard and infant great-grandson, Zachary Ryan Coe.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sheila Beck and husband Darrell of Westerville, Ohio. Son, Benjie Weaver and wife Kimberley of Hickory, NC. Her beloved grandchildren, Courtney Coe and husband Joe of Columbus, Ohio, Clay Beck and wife Tara of Lewis Center, Ohio, Emily Cuccarese and husband Mike of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ava Weaver of Charlotte, NC. Seven beloved great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Natalie Coe, Grady, Lucy and Gemma Beck, Ivan and Spencer Cuccarese. A brother, Max Leonard (Lynn Meeks); sisters, Peggy Kepley and Shelby Orrell; brother and sister-in-laws, Toni Leonard, Don and Lib Weaver, Virginia Weaver, Barbara Weaver and many loving nieces and nephews.

Betty’s love of family and friends, her faith and her dedication to serving others were the cornerstones of her life. She will be deeply missed. Her children would like to thank her family, church family, friends and neighbors for their visits, food, phone calls and prayers over these past few weeks. And Trellis Hospice of Winston-Salem and Nancy Sellars for their care of our Mom.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Good Hope Church in Reedy Creek.. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Hope Church Backpack ministry or to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem.
