Betty Sue Byerly Owens, 74, of Feezor Road, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Billy Pearson and Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Owens was born January 7, 1940, in Rowan County, to James Byerly and Grace Yarbrough Byerly. She was a homemaker and a member of Relay for Life of Davidson County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hammett Owens.
Surviving are daughter, Lynn Fletcher and husband Scott of Lexington; step-daughter, Rebecca Hristopoulos and husband George of New Mexico; stepsons, Ben Owens and wife Lynn of Advance, Lee Owens and wife Jeanette of New Mexico; seven grandchildren including Dalton Fletcher of Lexington and Morgan Owens of Advance; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Arnold Owens of Lexington; special niece and caregiver, Jean Kennedy of Lexington; and her faithful canine companion, Lady.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
