Betty Jean Essick Roberson, 86, of Lexington, died Tuesday, September 02, 2014, at her home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Aaron Long officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. and other times at the home.
Mrs. Roberson was born August 8, 1928, in Davidson County, to Ellis Leo “Pete” Essick and Nona Elizabeth Hyatte Essick. She graduated from Welcome High School and Ashemore Business College. She retired from Lexington State Bank on September 21, 1990 after serving over 40 years. Hobbies included silk flower arranging, travel and caring for her plants. She married Rex E. Roberson on June 6, 1945. She was a charter member of Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ where she also served on the consistory, was secretary of Sunday school class and the financial secretary of the church for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Roberson; and a daughter, Vickie Jean Roberson Moody.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Patricia Roberson Wilson; grandson, Adam Lee Wilson; great-grandsons, Nicholas Aston Wilson and Aiden Martin Wilson; sister in law Peggy Snider; loving son-in-law, Willard Moody; and nephews, Rick Snider and wife, Linda and Joe Essick and wife, Dawn.
