Betty Saunders

Betty Jo Clement Saunders, age 82, of Lexington passed away on Monday, April 02, 2018 at Brookstone Retirement Center.   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the Church.   Mrs. Saunders was born on June 24, 1935 in Davidson County to James Walter “Ab” Clement and Ruby Swicegood Clement. She was a retired teller, having worked for LSB and was a member of Greer’s Chapel UMC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Saunders.   Surviving are her son, W. Scott Saunders (Carine) of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Kayce Saunders of Greensboro; two brothers, Randall S. Clement (Heinz Derwein) of Salisbury and Jim Clement (Susie) of Lexington; three sisters, Patti Allman (Wayne) of Salisbury, Becky Leonard and Janet Saunders both of Lexington; four grandchildren, Rachel Gabriele (Agostino), Rebecca Saunders, Jarrod Saunders and Joshua Saunders; one great-granddaughter, Capri Gabriele; and a host of nieces and nephews.   Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.   The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Brookstone Retirement Center for their loving care of Mrs. Saunders.
