Betty Ann Sharpe Smith age 89, of Vance Circle, passed away Thursday at her residence after declining health of one year.
A graveside service will be 2:00 pm, Sunday in Lexington City Cemetery, with Dr. Ray N. Howell 3rd and Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Davidson County, October 30, 1924, the daughter of Dr. Charles Ray Sharpe and Eula Miller Sharpe. She was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School and Catawba College. She was an active member of First Baptist Church until her health declined and also a member of the Charity League, the Lexington Garden Club and was presented as a NC Debutante. She had previously been part owner of Daisy’s Dress Shop and had worked in the office of her husband Dr. Amos Hedrick Smith whom she married in 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles Taylor Sharpe and Dr. Smith on July 29, 2008.
Betty is survived by son, Amos “Rick” Hedrick Smith Jr. and wife Gwinnie and a daughter, Raye Ann Koonts and husband Robert all of Lexington; two granddaughters, Anna Marie Koonts and Ellen Elizabeth Smith.
The family would like to thank Alpha Healthcare, Piedmont Home Care, Hospice of Davidson County and all of her caregivers who took care of Betty in her later years and during her illness.
