Betty Shumate

Betty Jane Shumate, 62, passed away Monday night, May 13th 2024.

As she passed away she was surrounded by her five dogs whom she considered her babies. Tootsie, Skipper, Bailey, Heidi & Yoda. Betty was born February 3rd 1962 in Galax, Virginia. She continued school at Laramie Community College in Wyoming to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse. She then went on to continue caring for people at a Nursing home in Salisbury, North Carolina and later went to care for animals at a Veterinary Clinic in Salisbury North Carolina.

Betty loved her family, all of her fur babies, the beach, a good Chinese meal and a cold coke.

She was the most loving and forgiving. She would give the shirt off her back to make sure those around her what they wanted and needed.

Betty was proceeded in death by her mother, Dorothy Lee Alley, and her father, Glenn Roy Shumate.

She is survived by her children, Tiffany Laws and DeWayne Roney. Grandchildren, Brianna Petitt, Brandon Spivey, Hannah Roney, Jocelyn Romero, Matthew Roney and Myleigh Hollman.

A celebration of life will be held at 51 Plaza Parkway, Lexington NC at 2pm on Saturday May 18th.
