Betty Cook Williams

January 10, 1928 — September 29, 2009

Betty Rae Cook Williams, age 81, loving wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother and great-grandmother died at her home Tuesday morning September 29, after a long battle with cancer.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm  Thursday, October 1, 2009 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Lindquist officiating.  Private Interment at Forest Hill Memorial Park Columbarium.   She was born Betty Rae Cook on January 10, 1928 to Nobe Walser Cook and Lucille Cook Hedrick.  She was a graduate of Lexington High School, a longtime volunteer at Lexington Memorial Hospital, and in the past, an avid supporter of the Lexington Woman’s Club. Gardening was a great love of Betty’s.  She was raised in Trinity United Methodist Church and most recently a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Christine Garwood and a brother Charles Hedrick.   Surviving are; Husband, Fred Williams of the home; one daughter, Donna Wilkins of Lexington; four sons, Norman Williams of Raleigh, NC, Rodney Williams of Roanoke, VA, Michael Williams and Robin Williams both of Lexington; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one sister Iris McCarn of Lexington; two brothers, Grady (Corky) Cook of Welcome and Nobe Ronald Cook of Big Springs, TX.   The family will receive friends at a church reception immediately following the service, in the Fellowship Hall.   In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
