Betty Wilson, 79 of W. 7th Street Ext. passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Betty McCrary or son, Tommy Wood.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Wilkes County, on July 27, 1933, to Walter Truman Mickel and Ora Mae Suttle Mickel. She was a member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church and a retired cab driver from Yellow Cab Company. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Wilson.
Surviving are sons, Tommy Wood, Billy Joe Pope, both of Lexington, and Frank Clements and wife, Melinda, of Lillington; daughters, Betty McCrary and husband, David, and Janice Curtis and husband, Greg, all of Lexington; granddaughter, Brandi Hall and husband, Billy, of Thomasville; brothers, Billy Mickel of Louisiana, Marty Mickel and Walter Mickel Jr., all of Lexington; and sisters, Peggy Mickel of Lexington and Doris Myers of Morgan, Texas.
