Beulah Parrish

Beulah Benson Parrish, 88, of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at her home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Parrish was born March 2, 1927, in Johnston County to Odell Benson and Mary Wilkins Benson. She was a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church. Beulah served and worshipped God through the music she loved. Playing her guitar comforted or entertained all who knew her. She played and sang in church services and entertained seniors at different facilities. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Hugo Parrish who died October 11, 1984; brothers, Leonard Benson and Luther Benson; and sister, Lena Abernathy. Surviving are her sons, Victor H. Parrish Jr of Winston-Salem; Mark A Parrish and wife Heather, Rodney C. Parrish and wife Julie, and Kerry D. Parrish and wife Bernice, all of New Port; daughters, Elizabeth Kay Wright and husband James of Linwood, and Janice Schofield and husband Phil of New Port; 13 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
