William Maynard “Bill” Cook, 92, of Woodhaven Drive, died Tuesday, January 25 at his home.
A private inurnment was held at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Cook was born December 5, 1929 in Davidson County to Clarence Maynard Cook and Essie Evans Tysinger Cook. He retired from The Dispatch with 25 years of service with several awards for advertising and a member of First United Methodist Church. He had a great love for the game of golf and was a scratch player at one time. Bill won several tournaments and had several holes in one. He was a life-long member of the Lexington Golf Club and had many golfing buddies.
He was devoted to his mom and aunt and took them to the beach once a year for a week. Bill loved his wife, Dot, greatly and had 67 years of marriage. He was a devoted papaw to his grandchildren and was a loved father-in-law by Leah and Pamela. His sister, Caroline McCree, and his sister-in-law, Jean Crawford, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Stone Cook of the home; his sons, William Michael Cook (Pamela) of Conway, SC and Christopher Dal Cook (Leah) of Lexington; his sister, Jane Harris; his sister-in-law, Edith Gladden of Sanford; and his grandchildren, London Cook (Kathryn) of Thomasville, Audrey Cook, Craig “Bear” Cook, and Elizabeth Cook, all of Lexington and Christian Caglione of Murrells Inlet, SC.
