Bill Medford Jr.

John William “Bill” Medford Jr., 86, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at his home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Medford was born January 11, 1927, in Granville County, to Mr. and Mrs. J. William Medford Sr. He was a graduate of Davidson College where he was a varsity letterman in golf and The Warton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After a distinguished career with Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm he retired as a partner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; and daughters, Marcy and Julie Medford. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Wall Medford of the home; a daughter, Rhainne Michele Medford McRae (Ed) of Wildwood, Ga.; sister, MaryAnn Sansbury (Olin) of Tryon; and Betsy’s children, Chuck Wall (Sherry), Sterling Wall (Tina), Julia Dunn (David), Tom Wall (Anna); grandchildren, Kali Brown, Zachary Brown, Noah Brown, Rose Giansante (Angelo), Jane Blackerby (Will), Charlie Wall (Ali), Catherine Pyle (Charlie), Sterling Wall Jr. (Kristin), Hunter Varipapa (Chris), Kate Sheehan (Peter), Barrett Dunn (Weslie), Macon Dunn, Brittain Dunn, Braxton Wall (Katherine), Fletcher Wall; 14 great-grandchildren and nephew, John Claud (Mary Clare) niece, Elizabeth Florez (Alberto).
