Bill Clifton Raykes, age 91, of Woodsway Drive, Lexington passed away Friday afternoon (April 10, 2015) at Forsyth Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 pm Sunday at Lexington City Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Johns officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no public visitation, however the family will be at the residence.
Bill was born in Pulaski, Virginia to Adam Charles and Bertha Rosena Roope Raykes. He was a retired self-employed Grading Contractor and later enjoyed raising cattle. He served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1943 until 1946.
Surviving are his wife Joan Peeler Raykes of the home; daughters, Judith Ann Raykes Fann of Hiogh Point and Susan Leslie Raykes of Lexington; son, William Peeler Raykes of Lexington; grandchildren, David L. Burks, Lara Burks Smith, Jeffrey S. Raykes, Samuel C. Raykes, Daniel L. Raykes and Sarah E. Wagner and 7 great-grandchildren.
