Bill Revelle

January 15, 1926 — March 12, 2009

William Douglas “Bill” Revelle Sr., 83, of Woodhaven Drive, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, following an extended illness. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Jay Belk. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Revelle was born January 15, 1926, in Davidson County, to Barden Hicks Revelle and Eva Russell Revelle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired salesman from Sink Printing. He was a life member and former Post Commander of VFW Post 3074. He was also a member of American Legion Post 8, AmVet Post 13. Mr. Revelle was a past leader at his church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Grant Wilkinson Revelle, James Russell Revelle, Pete Revelle and Clarence Revelle; and sisters, Elizabeth Raymer, Louise Ward and Mary Ella Young. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Nunn Revelle of the home; sons, William Douglas “Bill” Revelle Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Advance, and James Whitcomb “Jim” Revelle and wife, Tina, of Lexington; daughter, Cindy Revelle Miller and husband, Tom, of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Hillary Miller, Rachel Miller, Kayla Revelle and Kayce Revelle. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
