" Bill" William Brice Carr, Sr.

" Bill" William Brice Carr, Sr. age 80 of Caraway Mountain Road, Sophia passed away Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018 at Grayson Creek Assisted Living.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wallace, NC, with Reverend Charles Love officiating. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel in Winston Salem from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday night.

William was born in Duplin County, NC  September 10, 1937 to Gibson Sloan Carr and Jessie Brice Carr. He was a graduate of Wallace High School Class of 1956 and was CEO of Carr Freight. William served his country in the US Air Force. As a young man he enjoyed fishing and in his later years he loved to work in his yard. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gibson Sloan Carr, Jr. and Charles Edward Carr.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Hughes Carr of the home; son, William Brice “Bill” Carr, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Lexington; grandsons, William Brice Carr, III and wife Courtney, George Gibson Carr and wife Misty; great-grandchildren, Hunter Gibson Carr and Sloan Woodrow Carr; sister, Ann Carr Fussell and husband David of Wallace.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grayson Creek and Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County for the care given during his illness.
