Billie Davis

Billie L. Davis, 88, of Simerson Road, died Friday, January 18, 2008, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Churchland Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for 54 years, by the Rev. Ray Nance Howell IV. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born October 19, 1919, in Davidson County, to John Dewey Long and Claudie Myers Long. She was married to Ed Shemwell Davis who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are daughter, Billie Davis Sledge; and sister, Doris Sink. Surviving are daughter, Pat Beane and husband, Larry W., of Lexington; grandchildren, Larry Beane Jr. and wife, Tabitha, Chris Beane and wife, Patti, Angela West and husband, Tommy, Shemwell Bean and Amy, and Wendy Sledge and Morless Edwards; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; half brother, Edward Chandler and wife, Lillian, of Winston-Salem; and half sisters, Katherin Edwards of Winston-Salem and Ruth Lanning of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home.
