Billy Burkhart

Billy Burkhart, 76, of East Holly Grove Road, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clearview Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Purdue. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday and other times at the home. Billy was born in Davidson County on Feb. 22, 1935, to Frank Everette Burkhart and Lena Mae Freedle Burkhart. He was a retired employee of Fletcher Machine. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Etta Belle Cross Burkhart on Feb. 22, 2005; son-in-law Barney Bowman on Sept. 16, 2010; sister Madgie Jeroszewski; and two infant grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, Jean Bowman and Diane Burkhart of Lexington and Judy Burkhart of Trinity, and two sons, David Craver and wife Tammie and Danny Craver, all of Lexington; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara Helmstetler and Brenda Alford, both of Lexington; and his special pet dog, Jake. The family would like to thank a special friend, Nancy Leonard, and Hospice for their wonderful care during his illness.
