Billy Ward Curry

Billy Ward Curry, 93, of Lexington, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 7, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Thursday, April 10 at Holly Grove Lutheran Church in Lexington, with the Rev. Anna Carter officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 9 at Davidson Funeral Home - Lexington 5pm -7pm.

Billy was born on April 17, 1931, in Davidson County, NC to Calvin Ward Curry and Daisy Kepley Curry who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a brother Paul Franklin Curry, Sr. and a sister, Josephine Curry Miller.

Billy was the owner of Curry Lumber Company and lifetime member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church where he served in the Brotherhood ministry and was Man of the Year multiple times.  Billy also served his community as a member of the Davis-Townsend Lions Club for nearly 60 years, some of those years as treasurer, and earned the distinction of Lion of the Year several times. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 8, Am Vets and served in the Lexington VFW as the 2nd Vice Commander.  Bill will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and good spirit. He was recently recognized by the N. C. Department of Agriculture as having a 100-year Family Farm.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Doris “Dottie” Curry, of the home; sons, Rickey Ward Curry and Scotty Young Curry (Holly); grandchildren, Shauna Curry Hedrick (Sam), April Curry Bunton (Matt), Andrew Hampton Curry and William Lawson Curry; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hedrick, Daisy Grubb (Daniel), Nathan Baker and Brantley Bunton; great-great grandchild, Dallas Grubb, and a special nephew; Mickey York (Barbara).

Billy will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and love for his family and community.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Grove Lutheran Church, Lexington, NC 27292.
