Billy Travis Hayes, of Carolina Avenue, Lexington died Saturday morning June 2, 2007 at his home after declining health of six months.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, conducted by Rev. Clyde Akers, burial will follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Lexington Memorial Lodge #473.
Billy was born in Columbus County, NC to Solomon Dew Hayes and Eula Worley Hayes. He was a retired truck driver with Roy Widener Trucking and a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. A veteran of the US Army and the National Guard, member of Lexington Memorial Lodge 473, and a Scottish and York Rite Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Minnie McGehee Hayes and daughter Sandra Leigh Hayes.
Surviving are: wife Dorothy Leonard Hayes of the home, Step Daughters: Sandra Sneed husband Larry, Julie Mae Bowden husband Jeff all of Lexington; Step Son: Bobby Dale Sutton of Lexington; Brothers: Jerry Hayes wife Fran of Midway and Buddy Hayes of Lexington; Sisters: Margaret Hayes Watts and Jackie Shelley both of Fair Bluff, NC, Nancy Hayes Hall, Betty Hayes Milam husband Charlie all of Lexington and Mary Lee Blythe of Winston Salem; 7 Step Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Grandchildren, and a very special nephew, Chris Watts and wife Vicky and their two sons Adam and Andrew of Clarendon, NC.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 until 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at home.
